Welcome to the home page of Sveccha (Freedom). Sveccha is a central repository for all things related to localisation of Open Source software to Telugu.

Currently, software for Indian languages be it in the area of rendering or IMEs, or availability of open fonts or application software is very limited. This is particularly true for Telugu - even though there are about 80 million speakers of Telugu around the world and lot of software consultants in the industry are Telugu speaking. Also, whatever efforts there are to localise free software for Telugu are very limited and scattered. The aim of this project is to be a central repository for all things related to localisation of Open Software for Telugu. In the future, this will expand to developing software in Telugu relevant to Indian population.

Where there are already efforts underway - for example, IndLinux-Telugu, we will not reinvent the wheel but try to work with those projects.
